I haven’t blogged in a while, but I also haven’t been able to really sit and reflect in a long time.  On Friday I tweeted that this song came on the radio on my drive home and it made me think and reflect, even just for one second, about how lucky we were just to be alive.  The following day I found out one of my close friends from high school had passed away.  She was two weeks away from graduating from Harvard and was one of the hardest working and most intelligent people I had ever gotten the pleasure of knowing.  She was voted Most Likely to Succeed in our high school yearbook and had so much promise and to look forward to. This is the fourth kid from my graduating class to pass away, and while I knew all of them personally, she was the closest to me.  I’ll never forget her infectious laugh and how even though I stressed her out on print nights in journalism by barely making my deadlines, she somehow found a way to still love me.

Wendy, you were truly amazing and you have no idea how much I and everyone else around you respected you.  No matter what you did, you succeeded and this Earth lost an absolutely fantastic person on Saturday. You will be missed.

No idea why, but this actually gave me chills.  The fact that people recognize and respect Derek Fisher for the basketball player he is and the human being he is.  Good luck on the Thunder, D-Fish!
